Key Technology is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of automated industrial food processing equipment, specializing in optical inspection and sorting equipment, as well as numerous other conveying systems and food processing equipment, sold worldwide.

Current Responsibilities as Senior Electrical Engineer:

Develop, design and document electrical control systems and cabinet assemblies for industrial food processing machines for sale to industrial food processing plants worldwide. Experienced with development and documentation software such as all versions of AutoCAD up to 2013 release, Microsoft Access, Excel, Visio, Word up to 2013 release. Independently created database system, including forms and reports for electrical components using Microsoft Access development tools.  Also, familiar with Microsoft AX corporate database system.

 

Responsible for complete electrical system design (excluding electronics) for Key Industrial Sorting Machines like Manta, Tegra, Optyx 3000, Optyx 6000 and ADR sorting systems.  Continue to maintain and upgrade electrical designs for these and most other industrial machines.  Have been involved in the design of almost every electrical power and control system for industrial machines at Key Technology since 1987.  See company website for description and capabilities of these machines at www.key.net.

 

Responsible for PLC software development and hardware specifications for industrial machines for Key Technology. Familiar with components and programming for Texas Instruments 5TI, 520C, 435 series PLC control systems since 1987. Also worked with Modicon 884, Micro84 and 984 series controllers, as well as Allen-Bradley PLC/2 and PLC/5 series controllers and Siemens S7-200 series PLC. Most recently worked with the Modicon TSX Momentum (984) PLC with distributed I/O using InterBus technology and Ethernet TCP/IP communications currently used in all production machines.  Able to interface with most other PLC manufacturers using PLC communications converters like Red Lion Data Station Plus.  Familiar with HMI development and interface for PLC systems.

 

Responsible for NEC, UL and CE electrical compliance for industrial machines.  Interface with Underwriters Laboratories (UL), TUV and Intertek to attain and maintain domestic (UL) and international (CE) compliance and approvals for industrial machine electrical systems since 1992. Continue to maintain company UL508A ICP (Industrial Control Panels) listing with UL. Familiar with most Domestic and International Standards pertaining to Electrical and Machinery Safety such as UL508, NFPA-70, NFPA-79, as well as EN60204-1, EN954-1 required by the Machinery Directive for EU, including the EMC Directive and Low Voltage Directive for CE compliance.

 

Responsible for providing technical support and expertise for manufacturing, service personnel and customer inquiries on electrical components, devices and control systems used in machines I have designed. Frequently manage or coordinate product improvement projects or custom control system designs. Supervise electrical drafting, checking, and changes to new and existing electrical designs.
